Astrozap Meade 16″ SCT, Flexible Black Plastic

Description

AstroZap Flexible Dew Shield for Meade 16″ SCT Black Plastic

The Meade 16″ Schmidt-Cassegrain is a true observatory-class telescopemassive in both light-gathering power and dew susceptibility. With a corrector plate the size of a dinner plate, it’s essential to protect your optics from moisture and ambient light. The AstroZap Flexible Dew Shield delivers lightweight, rollable defense for this aperture giant, keeping your session going long after lesser scopes have fogged over.

Built from durable black plastic, this dew shield wraps securely around the front of your OTA and fastens with a Velcro strip. The felt-lined interior serves a dual purpose: reducing radiative cooling to slow dew formation, and absorbing stray light for enhanced image contrast.

Tailored to fit the Meade 16″ SCT optical tube, this model is ideal for outreach telescopes, mobile domes, or any large-aperture setup that needs serious front-end protectionwithout the weight and rigidity of metal.

Features:

• Designed specifically for Meade 16″ Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes

• Constructed from flexible black plastic for lightweight durability

• Felt-lined interior minimizes dew and suppresses stray light

• Velcro fastening strip for quick, tool-free installation

• Rolls up for easy transport and storage

• Ideal for large aperture users in humid or light-polluted environments

Observing Tip:

With large-aperture SCTs like the Meade 16″, the sheer surface area of the corrector plate accelerates heat loss, making dew form faster than youd expect. A dew shield like this not only delays that process but can significantly enhance contrast during planetary and deep-sky sessions.
