Description
AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield for Meade SN-8 LXD55 / LXD75 Schmidt-Newtonians
With its wide-field, fast f/4 optics, the Meade SN-8 Schmidt-Newtonian is a favorite among imagers and deep-sky observers. But its corrector plate is also a wide-open invitation for dew and unwanted ambient light. The AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield is the perfect shield for the joboffering both passive light suppression and active dew control in one streamlined, easy-to-use wrap.
Designed specifically to fit the SN-8 optical tube, this dew shield is crafted from flexible black ABS plastic for durability and portability. Inside, a black felt lining traps stray light and slows the cooling process that leads to dew formation. Built into the body is a low-wattage heating element, powered by a standard RCA-style plug that connects to your favorite dew heater controller (sold separately). The result? A shield that doesn’t just delay dewit defeats it.
Installation is simple with a Velcro closure that wraps snugly around the front of your OTA without tools. Whether you’re imaging under suburban skies or observing from a remote dark site, this Flexi-Heat shield will help your SN-8 deliver peak performance from dusk until dawn.
