Description

AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield for Meade 10″ Catadioptrics

When you’re operating a Meade 10″ Schmidt-Cassegrain or Schmidt-Newtonian, you’re commanding serious opticsand serious optics deserve serious protection. The AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield is your first and last line of defense against the ever-creeping menace of dew and contrast-robbing stray light.

This model is custom-made for Meade 10″ catadioptric OTAs, including SCT and SN designs. Constructed from flexible, rugged black ABS plastic, it wraps securely around your OTA and fastens effortlessly with a Velcro strip. Inside, a velvet lining traps ambient light and reduces radiative cooling that contributes to dew buildup.

But the true secret weapon is its built-in low-wattage heating element, which gently warms the corrector plate to prevent dew from forming in the first place. Powered by a standard RCA connector, its compatible with most 12V dew controllers (sold separately) and works seamlessly alongside your existing dew management setup.

Features:

• Custom fit for Meade 10″ SCTs and SNs (catadioptric optical tubes)

• Integrated heater strip with RCA plug for active dew prevention

• Velvet-lined interior enhances contrast and slows dew formation

• Lightweight black ABS plastic for field durability and portability

• Easy Velcro wraparound installationno tools or modifications required

• Combines light blocking, insulation, and heating in one sleek accessory

Observing Tip:

10″ scopes strike a beautiful balance between aperture and portabilitybut their corrector plates are big enough to attract dew quickly, especially during multi-hour sessions. A Flexi-Heat shield not only keeps the optics dry, it blocks off-axis light so you can detect fainter deep-sky details and boost contrast when chasing nebulae, galaxies, or fine planetary structure.
