Description
AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield for 14″ Celestron & Meade SCTs
When youre observing with a 14″ Schmidt-Cassegrain, youre wielding serious apertureand that massive corrector plate makes dew control more than a convenience… its a mission-critical necessity. The AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield is engineered specifically for 14″ Celestron and Meade SCTs, combining traditional dew and light shielding with built-in active dew prevention for full-spectrum protection.
Constructed from tough yet flexible black ABS plastic, this shield wraps easily around your OTA and fastens securely using a full-length Velcro strip. Inside, a velvet lining absorbs stray light and slows radiative cooling to delay the onset of dew. But the real power lies in the integrated low-wattage heating element, which runs quietly beneath the surface and plugs into a standard RCA-style dew controller (sold separately).
The result? Your corrector plate stays warm and cleareven through hours of exposure, high humidity, or temperature drops. Whether youre imaging distant galaxies or just enjoying extended visual sessions, this Flexi-Heat shield keeps your opticsand your nighton track.

Observing Tip:
A 14″ SCT has incredible light-gathering power, but it also radiates heat faster than smaller scopesmaking it one of the first to dew over in damp conditions. A heated dew shield like this one is essential not just for protection, but also for maximizing image contrast by blocking ambient light. Its a simple upgrade with a major impact on performance.
