Description
AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield for Meade SN-10 LXD55 / LXD75 Schmidt-Newtonians
The Meade SN-10 Schmidt-Newtonian brings together fast optics and a wide field with serious light-gathering powerbut its large corrector plate also makes it highly susceptible to dew and ambient light interference. The AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield is custom-built to protect this optical powerhouse, combining passive shielding and active dew control in one seamless design.
Constructed from lightweight yet rugged black ABS plastic, the Flexi-Heat shield installs quickly and securely with a Velcro fastening strip, wrapping around the front of your SN-10 OTA without tools or modifications. Inside, a black felt lining helps suppress stray light and improves image contrastcritical for both deep-sky imaging and visual work.
What makes this version a game-changer is the built-in low-wattage heating element. Powered via a standard RCA jack, the heater gently warms your corrector plate to stay just ahead of the dew point. Simply connect it to your existing dew controller (sold separately), and youre ready for long, uninterrupted observing sessionseven in damp conditions.

Observing Tip:
The fast f/4 optics of the SN-10 are fantastic for imaging and wide-field viewsbut they’re also unforgiving when moisture creeps in. This Flexi-Heat dew shield keeps your optics dry and boosts contrast, so those faint galaxies dont get lost in glare or dew blur halfway through your exposure run.
