Description
AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield for Meade 16″ SCTs
If youre running a Meade 16″ Schmidt-Cassegrain, youre no stranger to serious apertureand serious dew problems. That massive corrector plate is a magnet for moisture, especially during long imaging sessions or high-humidity nights. The AstroZap Flexi-Heat Dew Shield gives you the muscle you need to fight back, combining passive shielding with built-in active dew control in one professional-grade package.
This heavy-duty dew shield is constructed from durable, flexible ABS plastic with a black velvet-lined interior that absorbs stray light and reduces radiative cooling. The result? Better contrast and delayed dew formation. But what sets this shield apart is the integrated low-wattage heating element, which wraps around the front of the OTA and plugs into a standard RCA-style dew controller (sold separately). This delivers gentle, even warmth to the corrector plate, keeping your view crystal-clear even during all-night sessions.
The wraparound design installs easily with a Velcro fastening strip, hugging the scope securely without tools or hardware. Designed specifically for the large front cell of the Meade 16″ SCT, this Flexi-Heat model ensures perfect fit, reliable heating, and long-term durability.

Observing Tip:
The Meade 16″ SCT collects an incredible amount of lightbut dew doesnt care how much aperture you have. In fact, the larger the corrector, the faster it can fog over. A heated shield like this one is essential to keep your big glass dry, especially if youre imaging or hosting public outreach events where clear views are critical.
