Astrozap Meade 6″ LXD55 Schmidt-Newtonian, Flexible Black Plastic

Description

AstroZap Flexible Dew Shield for Meade 6″ LXD55 Schmidt-Newtonian Black Plastic

The Meade 6″ Schmidt-Newtonian (SN-6) on the LXD55 mount is a fast, lightweight, and sharp wide-field performerideal for astrophotographers and deep-sky sweepers alike. But with that corrector plate right at the front, its also a prime target for dew and intrusive light. The AstroZap Flexible Dew Shield is custom-built to protect your SN-6, helping preserve image quality and extend your session through changing conditions.

Made from durable yet lightweight black plastic, this dew shield wraps securely around the front cell of the OTA using a Velcro closure. Inside, a felt-lined interior serves double duty: it slows down radiative cooling (reducing dew formation) and absorbs stray light, boosting contrast during both visual observing and imaging.

Whether youre in a backyard setup or hiking your SN-6 out to a dark site, this dew shield is compact, rugged, and ready to roll.

Features:

• Custom fit for Meade 6″ LXD55 Schmidt-Newtonian telescopes

• Flexible black plastic for easy transport and reliable durability

• Felt-lined interior minimizes dew and blocks ambient light

• Velcro fastening strip for fast, tool-free installation

• Rolls up for compact storage and convenient travel

• Enhances contrast and helps keep your corrector plate fog-free

Observing Tip:

The SN-6s front-mounted corrector makes it much more susceptible to dew than an open Newtonian. A dew shield like this is one of the best bang-for-your-buck upgrades you can make, especially when paired with a small heater strap for maximum effectiveness in humid conditions.
